About The Keel-Billed Toucan
The beautiful Keel-Billed Toucan, with its huge, rainbow-colored bill, is the national bird of Belize. Also known as the Rainbow-Billed Toucan, they’re notable for their colorful green, orange, red, and blue bills, which make up about one-third of their 20-inch length. While a bill this big may seem heavy, it's actually quite light, made of hollow, reinforced bone sheathed in keratin, the same protein found in human hair and nails. Perhaps the most well-known tropical bird, the Toucan is a symbol of playfulness and intelligence.
